This one-day workshop will introduce you to the basics of wet felting.

 

During the day we will look at different wools, the tools and methods you can use to make felted items in your home without needing lots of space or special equipment. On the day you will make a piece of felt of your own design that can be used as a table or dresser centre, table mat or set of coaster. Or turn your piece into something else – the choice is yours.

 

  • will learn traditional ways to lay out your wool and how to add different fibres to embellish your work – the basic building blocks of wet felting. And we will share ways of working that minimises the stress on your back and arms. You will also learn how to know that your item is “felted,” felting terminology and types of wool suitable for different types of felting. All materials are provided and you only need to bring an apron (preferably water proof)

    • series of felting workshops led by Pauline Fraser of PRF Creatives. Pauline has been felting for over 10 years and is a member of the International Felting Association. With the exception of using Merino wool for soft, fine felts, Pauline works exclusively with British wools. She sells her work at local makers markets as well as online. She loves to make “wearable art,” unique accessories in fine felt, often combined with hand-dyed silks, As well as working in felt, she creates natural dyes, botanical prints, spins yarn and makes her own paper which she binds into books. Pauline is an experienced tutor and workshop leader who enjoys sharing her skills with others.
