Fun with clay at The Creative Chicken
Service Description
Try out both wheel throwing and hand building in our fun, informal introduction to pottery. During your 90 minute session you will be given basic instruction on throwing a simple pot before spending time on a pottery wheel having fun. You will also have time to try out hand building with clay to create a pinch pot or small sculpture. After your session we will dry then fire your best 2 pieces before you are invited back about 4 weeks later for a 60 minute session in which you will glaze them . We will then refire the piees and your can take them home. The cost includes clay, use of wheel, use of hand building tools, firing & glazing of 2 pieces. If you wish to have more than 2 pieces fired these will incur a charge of £5 per piece. Please note that you must return to glaze your pottery within 3 months of notification that it has been bisque fired. Any item that remain unglazed beyond 3 months will be disposed of as we have limited storage. Please wear old clothing. When booking the drop down menu for number of participants will show the number of places still available on that session. PLEASE NOTE - bookings cancelled within 7days of the event are non-refundable. CAUTION: This product may be harmful to a person who has a pacemaker. Individuals with pacemakers should exercise caution when using pottery wheels due to the potential for magnetic interference from the motors. Potential Risks 1. Magnetic Fields: Pottery wheels, especially those with electric motors, generate magnetic fields when in use. These fields can potentially interfere with the functioning of a pacemaker, particularly if the user is in close proximity to the motor. 2. Consultation with physicians: It is strongly advised that individuals with pacemakers consult their healthcare advisors before using a pottery wheel. Manufacturers of pottery wheels also recommend this precaution, emphasizing the importance of understanding the specific risks associated with the type of motor used in the wheel. 3. Distance Matters: While there is a consensus that being in the same room as a pottery wheel is safe, being within six inches of the motor may pose a risk. Users should maintain a safe distance to minimise any potential interference.
